About Aariel Ridgebacks

I have been into dogs since I was a little girl. My first purebred dog was a Standard Poodle. After that, it wasn’t until I was married that we purchased a Siberian Husky. She was so beautiful, I felt it was a shame not to share her with others. Consequently, I became involved in Conformation showing. I have showed and bred Siberian Huskies for 40 years where I have put numerous American and Canadian Championships on my dogs. I belong to the Siberian Husky Club of America and have held every position in the Siberian Husky Club of the Niagara Frontier.

It wasn’t until 2009 that I was formally introduced to the Rhodesian Ridgeback. My daughter, Stacey Ford, was moving out of the country and had to have someone house her year-old male Rhodesian, Shane, CH RokiShoals Undeniable at Hunter’s Ridge. So, it became my fortune to have this wonderful, loving dog.

And thus began my love affair with the Rhodesian Ridgebacks!!

I continued working with Shane who already had his Championship. I learned to lure course and Shane earned his Junior Course title.  I then capitalized on Shane's wonderful temperament and he worked as a registered Therapy Dog. It is through these activities that I saw the wonderful versatility of the Ridgeback and truly how balanced and able they were to perform different functions.

I began to breed Rhodesians, and Sugar was my first brood bitch.  I discovered that to get a great dog you must breed to the best and from the best lines! Sugar's very first litter produced 10 puppies, and out of the 10, 8 went to show homes.  That was to be the beginning and set the tone for our quality breeding program.

My son and I were very fortunate to have produced puppies that have gone on to do great things.  One of our puppies certainly demonstrated that greatness and became the # 1 Bitch (2018) in the United States (AKC Confirmation All Systems).  Our puppies have become Champions, Grand Champions, Dual Champions, Best of  Specialty Show winners, Lure Coursing Champions and have titles in obedience and even the popular sport of barn nosing.  But best of all they become excellent, healthy pets and lifelong companions.

Our clients send us pictures and keep in touch with us for a lifetime!  Besides being a long time member of the Siberian Husky Club of America, I am also a member of the Rhodesian Ridgeback club of the United States (RRCUS). I am proud to be designated a Breeder of Merit by the American Kennel Club and also in the AKC Bred with HEART Program.
