What to expect from Aariel Ridgebacks?
Choosing your rhodesian ridgeback breeder is the most important decision you will make when working to find your new family member ridgeback puppy. Whether you get a rhodesian ridgeback puppy from us or other ridgeback breeders, it's a good idea to begin establishing a relationship with your rhodesian ridgeback breeder of choice a few months prior to being ready for a puppy. Depending on the time of year the better ridgeback breeders often have the majority of their rhodesian ridgeback pups placed before they are born. This means you should start early in your search.
We breed for conformation, soundness in temperament, and health. First, all of our dogs we breed are fully certified on the health certificates suggested by the Rhodesian Ridgeback Club of the United States. Second, not only are the sire and dams of exemplary temperament, but we take extra efforts to ensure our puppies meet neighbors, children, men, and hear lots of noises. We are not a kennel, we are a private home. So our puppies after 5 weeks old can go into our secure private grassy area to play and potty. Why do you care about this? Well, by eight weeks old the pups pretty much understand the place to "go potty" is outside. Our puppy homes regularly tell us their puppies are almost fully housebroken when they arrive (owners need to be still diligent of course).
Since conformation is of also importance, we are always on the lookout for people willing to show our dogs, or to have someone show them. In our last litter only 3 out of 10 of our Rhodesian Ridgeback puppies went to homes that did not intend to show. (And they were GREAT families!) In a situation like this, the earlier that a relationship with is breeder established, the better the chance there will be will be for getting a puppy once they are ready for their new homes.
Our puppy homes receive pictures weekly throughout their puppy's first eight weeks. Our puppy owners get to see the litter grow and all the puppies develop into confident young ridgeback pups. We remove dewclaws and ensure all puppies are checked and cleared thoroughly to be clear of dermoid sinus. Puppies are wormed under the vet's care and receive their first puppy shots. Finally, all puppies that leave our home receive a full bill of heath from a vet to and certified health certificate to ensure they are ready for their new home.
What about location?
Although we are in Florida, almost all of our puppies move to other areas around the country. Last litter we saw puppies moving to 6 other states - California, Ohio (2), Illinois, Minnesota, Virginia.
